After about 6 months of ownership I became a ware of a short squealing sound when pulling away in first gear. Mileage then was about 27,000. I took it to a Kia dealership who said it was the clutch but warned me that it may not be covered by the warranty as it is a wear and tear item. I had the same problem with my Sportage 3. Turns out a gear selector linkage had a worn out plastic piece. Sadly not available in UK. So I made my own replacement using a cut down 8mm external diameter socket. Then used JB Kwik Weld Metal to cure it enough do I can drive it asap. Drives like new, will last year's longer than original.

It had 92k miles on it when I bought it and now is up to 105k. I had an unpleasant surprise at the end of Nov when it failed the MOT on front subframe corrosion.

Just before anyone gets over excited about the warranty kia supply regarding the clutch i feel it is important to point out that in my experience it was the 5mm thick steel clutch plate which failed not the "clutch linings" as stated in the warranty terms and conditions.

#1 · Feb 23, 2019 Hi I have a 2011 ceed 3 1.6 crdi automatic, last week it developed a problem it seems to be stuck in one gear seems like 2nd or 3rd. Management light is on and it's shows a gearbox solonoid. I got the filter and fluid changed but no difference.

If the gear lever does not slot surely into a gear and feels rubbery then it’s a problem with the bushes at the bottom of the gear lever. This could have become hard and brittle, which will make it tough to change gears. Also check the gear linkage mechanism. There are two kinds of gear linkage mechanisms .
